Gardening Ministry

The beautiful campus at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Community encompasses over
6 acres in a natural setting of native shrubs, plants, grassy slopes, trees and meditative walkways.
Enhancing and maintaining God’s creation in this environment creates an opportunity for parish stewards to participate in nature’s glory and provide beauty for those utilizing parish grounds.

Mission and Purpose

/files/images/Ministry Images/IMG_0948.JPGThe mission and purpose of this ministry is to augment and invigorate the existing landscaping, both soft-scape and hard-scape elements. Through careful planning and research, propose routine, seasonal, annual and one time projects for plantings, repairs and maintenance of the grounds (excludes buildings, parking areas, structures) to the Pastor and staff. The overall goal is to use the talents of gifted parish stewards to take loving care, and beautify our parish grounds for the enjoyment of parishioners and visitors. In so doing we have nurtured God’s creation of the land, enhanced it and returned it back to the Lord through the eyes of others. A secondary goal may be some reduction in annual gardening and maintenance expense.

Meetings

As needed for planning, assessment and work descriptions.

Skills

Participating members are familiar with gardening chores or willing to learn. Some members may have specific skills in maintenance. The facilitator and parish staff will determine what tasks need to be done on a scheduled basis and therefore provide direction and work descriptions.
