Baptism for Infants and Children
The preparation for Infants and small children is to be completed by the parents and godparents.
Parents must be registered and participating in the parish at least six months before requesting baptism for their infant or child. Both parents and godparents must attend a pre-baptism seminar that teaches them what their roles and responsibilities are in the spiritual growth of the child. Expectant parents are invited to attend the seminar before the baby’s birth.
Steps
- Contact the office to determine if you need to attend a pre-baptism seminar before scheduling a baptism.
- If you need to attend a seminar, contact a Baptism Seminar facilitator to schedule your pre-baptism seminar. Available dates and contact information appear on the Infant Baptism parish calendar. If you have attended a baptismal seminar for a previous baptism you do not need to attend another.
- After completion of the seminar you will receive a completion certificate. Bring the certificate to the parish office where you will fill out the baptismal information form and schedule a date.
- If you recently attended a seminar, you can schedule the date for the baptism.
At the baptism ceremony, your child will receive a baptismal candle and a certificate of baptism.
