The Sacrament of Penance is an experience of the gift of God’s boundless mercy. Not only does it free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us. We are liberated to be forgivers. We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis, “It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.” Catholic Catechism for Adults
Saint Gregory the Great hosted our Annual Advent Penance Service on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:00 pm. This was an excellent time for spiritual preparation as we anticipate the celebration of the Nativity of our Lord at Christmas.
Sin separates us from God and the community of faith. This is an opportunity to be reconciled by penitence and forgiveness, thus restoring full participation in the life of the church. We invite you to ask for God’s forgiveness and to offer forgiveness to those who have hurt you.
Up to fifteen priests were available for confession and penance. If you were not able to join us, click this link for penance services at neighboring churches.
