Adoration is a time devoted to worship and meditation in the presence of our Lord.
Too often, in our busy lives, we are distracted from listening to God. Adoration is a sacred time in a sacred place, where the noise of the world is set aside, to listen to God in the ever so slight whisper of silence.
Each month we set aside time to devote to prayer in our church. Members of the parish are invited to sign up for hour slots of time in a continual vigil of prayer.
Devotions typically start after the 8:00 am Mass and continue through the night until the 8:00 am Mass on the following day. At least two people are asked to staff each hour. Even if you do not sign up, you may still attend anytime you desire throughout the 24-hour devotion. The hour of prayer is in silence.

St. Gregory the Great 250 Hours of Adoration Participation
As part of the wider Catholic contribution to the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops are inviting parishes and individuals to contribute to a collective 250 Hours of Adoration.
The Diocese of San Diego will participate in the 250 Hours of Adoration. Special Holy Hours will be scheduled in each of the diocese’s seven deaneries, or geographical clusters of parishes, to take place between June 14 and July 4, 2026.
St. Gregory the Great will be hosting two Holy Hours here at the parish:
- Thursday, Jun 25, 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Holy Hour for Peace (This will take place during the regular 4th Thursday Adoration time.)
- Wednesday, July 1, 8:30 -9:30 am – Sacred Heart Holy Hour
