Overview Summary of STGG Synod Participation

On March 16, 2022, 112 parishioners gathered and provided comments for the worldwide Catholic Synod, where Pope Francis called on all Catholics to participate in the mission and reinvigoration of the Church. Our parishioners shared experiences of disappointments and joys with the Church and their hopes for the future. An additional five parishioners submitted written comments.

All 117 comments have been provided to the Diocese of San Diego for their review and processing, along with comments from all parishes and special outreach groups throughout the Diocese. Once their review process is complete, the Diocese will prepare a survey questionnaire and send it out by the end of summer to gather additional comments. All of this data will then be combined with Dioceses throughout the United States and sent to the Vatican, to be combined with comments from around the world. A final Synod document is expected to be completed by the Vatican in late 2023. We look forward to following the progress of this Synod and pray for its success.

St. Gregory elected to prepare an Overview Summary of the 117 responses received.  Click to view

“Our Church Needs to Hear From All of Us”

Pope Francis has called a historic consultation, formally called a synod, at this pivotal moment as the Church is working to reinvigorate its mission amid unprecedented challenges. The Pope is calling upon all the world’s Catholics to participate fully in the mission and renewal of the Church. We are all called to be consultants, with the opportunity for our voices to be heard!

In response to our Pope’s request, on March 16 Saint Gregory the Great will organize a small-group session that is at the heart of this multi-year consultation.

Small groups of about eight members will share their experiences of joys and disappointments in the Church and most importantly their hope for the future of the Church. The areas of sharing will cover the global Church to our local experiences with insights used to strengthen the Church at all levels. More information about this consultation is available by clicking here.

All parishioners are invited and encouraged to participate in the small-group sessions on March 16 in the Parish Hall. Light refreshment will be provided starting at 6:30 pm. The sharing sessions will begin at 7:00 pm.

Please register by completing the online form below. You may also register after all Masses on March 5 & 6 on the gathering plaza, or anytime in the parish office.
