Dear Jesus, in this season, as in many before, I have felt so distant from You. My cross can feel overbearing. While I should be grateful for my family, I am most commonly the opposite. I feel starved for attention and respite, bitter at the need to be constantly humble. I react with anger and impatience rather than with the submission you ask of me.
Stabbing, searing, loneliness and despair. Giant, twisted trees of wood rising into the sky. The piercing heaviness of the cross. You received Agony for my sins, took on my suffering and understood it.
John Paul II said You have made room in Your suffering for me to participate, to know your love. Paul says to rejoice in it. Help me to offer my pain to You, to empty myself so you can fill me. Not my will, but your will be done. Jesus, may I trust in You.
Querido Jesús, en este tiempo, como en tantos otros anteriores, me he sentido tan distante de Ti. Mi cruz puede parecer abrumadora. Aunque debería estar agradecido por mi familia, lo más habitual es que sienta todo lo contrario. Me siento hambrienta de atención y de un descanso, amargada por la necesidad de ser constantemente humilde. Reacciono con ira e impaciencia, en lugar de con la sumisión que me pides.
Una soledad y una desesperación punzantes, abrasadoras. Gigantescos y retorcidos árboles de madera que se alzan hacia el cielo. La pesadez penetrante de la cruz. Tú padeciste la agonía por mis pecados; asumiste mi sufrimiento y lo comprendiste.
Juan Pablo II dijo que has hecho un lugar en tu sufrimiento para que yo participe en él, para que conozca tu amor. Pablo dice que debemos regocijarnos en ello. Ayúdame a ofrecerte mi dolor, a vaciarme de mí misma para que Tú puedas llenarme. No se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya. Jesús, permíteme confiar en Ti.
