“For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given…and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6

December 24 – January 11

The liturgical season of Christmas, also known as Christmastide, begins with the vigil Masses on Christmas Eve and concludes on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. During this season, we celebrate the birth of Christ into our world and our hearts and reflect on the gift of salvation that is born with him, including the fact that he was born to die for us.

The Christmas tree and the Nativity scene are popular symbols of the season and a tradition in many Christian homes. It is also traditional to exchange Christmas gifts with family and friends to honor God the Father’s gift of his only Son to the world. Having received the gift of Christ, we naturally want to pass that gift along to our loved ones.

As Catholics, we know that Christmas Day is not the end of the Nativity season but just the beginning. We have watched and waited in joyful anticipation through Advent, and now it’s our time to celebrate! During this time, you will hear traditional Christmas hymns at Mass, and it is customary to leave the decorations in place throughout the season.

Pastor's Letter

“For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:11-12

Dear Parishioners,

We spent the Season of Advent journeying toward the manger in hopeful expectation. Now we look toward that only perfect gift that will sustain us now and the many days to come, Jesus Christ! Our Savior has been born to us as the perfect gift of a gracious and loving God. Despite all the seeming distractions of the world, the love of God offers us profound peace in a special way in the person of Jesus Christ.

My prayer for each one of you is that you experience each day as a gift from God. May you value more deeply the relationships that sustain you, the blessings that are offered to you, and the peace of Christ that comforts you. May you use all things to help give meaning and dignity to the lives of everyone you encounter, just as the perfect gift of God, Jesus Christ, gives meaning and dignity to ours!

With a heart of love and gratitude for each of you, I wish a very blessed Christmas and a most prosperous New Year!
