Whispering Winds Catholic Camp & Conference Center is a refuge, a place where youth, individuals, couples, families, and groups can get away and hear God’s voice in the beauty of nature. Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, Whispering Winds is located on 161 acres in the scenic Cleveland National Forest, five miles south of the historic gold-mining town of Julian – about an hour’s drive from San Diego. We are a lay-directed, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation. While we are the only Catholic-based camp of its kind in all of Southern California, Whispering Winds is open to all faiths.

Anne Trufant weaves humor and common life experiences together to bring faith to life. A wife, mother of 7, grandmother to 16 (and counting!), Anne has led retreats both in the U.S. and abroad. For the last 37 years, Anne and her husband David have lived in North Carolina and recently transitioned the running of Camp Kahdalea for girls and Camp Chosatonga for boys to 3 of their amazing sons.

Anne and David are co-founders of Change Lives Now, a non-profit working to provide a future with hope primarily in war-torn, poverty ridden areas of Africa. Most recently, Anne founded The Mission on the Mountain, a ministry to equip everyday Catholics to know Jesus personally and share Him boldly. Anne is passionate about sharing her faith and does so in a way that both engages and inspires. We are honored to welcome her to Whispering Winds for our annual Women’s Retreat this year.
