Children’s Liturgy Coordinator (Pre-K through 5th Grade)
Works with other children’s Liturgy coordinators to plan weekly children’s Liturgy. Leads children’s Liturgy for current session.

Summer Children’s Liturgy Coordinator (Pre-K through 5th Grade)
The Liturgist escorts the children to and from Mass, presides over the celebration, welcomes the children, proclaims the Gospel, leads a reflection on the readings, introduces and concludes the intercessions and leads the children in song.

Lead Catechist or Co-Catechist (Pre-K through 8th Grade)
Plans lessons and leads the weekly lessons. Provides supplemental or “make-up” activities for students who are absent. Assures that attendance record is accurate and complete. Maintains communication with Faith Formation staff, students, and parents.

Assistant Catechist (Pre-K through 8th Grade)
Does not lesson plan, but is available in the classroom to assist and may fill in for Catechist when absent. (See duties above)

Classroom Assistant (Pre-K through 8th Grade)
Assists Catechist in classroom with supplies, helping with children, taking children to restroom, etc. Does not lesson plan or teach.

Substitute Catechist (Pre-K through 8th Grade)
Will be called to fill in for Catechists who are unable to teach their class. As much advance notice as possible will be given, but may be called last minute to sub for a class.

Session Coordinator (Pre-K through 8th Grade)
Arrives early to session to assure hall is set up for Faith Formation. Assures that all Catechists are present for session and brings all session issues to staff member on duty. Maintains attendance forms and sets out forms and prepares hall for next session. Assists with dismissal of students. Serves as point person for communication with session Catechists and parents.

Sacrament Team (2nd through 8th Grade)
Assists staff in the development and implementation of First Eucharist and First Reconciliation programs. Assists at registrations, workshops, rehearsals, and other events associated with the Sacramental Preparation programs.

Middle School Assembly (Music) Coordinator (6th through 8th Grade)
Works with staff and Catechists to develop and lead 30 minute gathering time at the beginning of the middle school Faith Formation sessions. Activities will include music, skits, special Liturgies, games, etc.

Retreat Team (6th through 8th Grade)
Assists staff in development and implementation of various annual retreats. Teams member may assist in any or all of the retreats offered by Faith Formation; 5th Grade Welcome Retreat, Grade 6/7 Spring Retreat, Grade 8 Transition Retreat.

Summer Vacation Bible School (Ages 3-10)
Vacation Bible School day camp is a terrific time to help and interact with the younger children of our parish. There are many positions available, that will vary from year to year; Set Construction, Camp Setup, Camp Breakdown, Camp Cleanup, Overall Planning and Leadership.

Materials/Library Services (Office Help)
Comes in weekly or bi-weekly to keep Faith Formation supply boxes stocked and inventoried. Keeps library shelves in order and restocks returned books and media. Communicates needs to Faith Formation staff so that materials are always on hand.

Safe Environment

All catechists and volunteers will be background checked and trained in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People is a comprehensive set of procedures established by the USCCB in June 2002 for addressing allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy. The Charter also includes guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse.

The Charter directs action in all the following matters:

  • Creating a safe environment for children and young people.
  • Healing and reconciliation of victims and survivors.
  • Making prompt and effective response to allegations.
  • Cooperating with civil authorities; Disciplining offenders.

Reporting
